Limerick hurlers return this Saturday

Waterford v Tipperary - GAA Hurling All-Ireland Senior Championship Semi-FinalTHE LIMERICK hurlers return to action this Saturday in Kilmallock as they face Waterford in the quarter final of the Waterford Crystal Cup.
The game, which throws in at 2pm, will be the first competitive outing of the season for TJ Ryan’s men.
The Limerick hurling panel for 2015 was finalised last week, with Donal O’Grady once more being selected as captain for the season. The vice captain role will once again remain the same, with Kilmallock’s Paudie O’Brien continuing in that role.
Ahead of this weekend’s clash, manager TJ Ryan will have to prepare for the game without his Kilmallock contingent, as well as players involved with their colleges in the competition. A GAA rule dictates that all college players have to play with their college, so Limerick will field an experimental fifteen on Sunday.
The main news from Ryan’s squad announcement was the addition of Cian Lynch and Tom Morrissey from last season’s minor set up.
Other new players drafted in are Pat Begley, Adrian Breen and Seanie O’Brien.
As ever, when they are additions, they are some omissions. The six players to miss out on the initial panel are Alan Dempsey, Michael Ryan and Mark Carmody. William Hickey, Tommy Quaid and Paudie Ahern.
Limerick’s first game of the national hurling league will also be against Waterford. That game is down for Valentines night, February 14 at 7pm in the Gaelic Grounds.
